Day 13: Making the Front Sleeve Seam

Making Sleeve Front Seam

The sewing machine makes its first appearance in this process, stitching the front seam of the sleeve. Unlike hand-sewing, where each stitch allows the fabric to breathe and move more fluidly, the machine locks the threads together in a precise, interwoven structure—firmer, faster, and efficient. But efficiency isn’t everything. The back seam remains open for now, giving access to shape the hem later on, preserving the balance between precision and flexibility. Like in most bespoke tailoring, it’s a conversation between hand and machine, each playing its part in the making of something refined.
