Yes! The Basic Bock No. 5-2019 is now ready. It looks a bit Mondrian inspired! Maybe I should take that idea a bit further…? I think I will look into that here in the near future.

Back to the Work Room.

Now let’s head on to the next project – a wool wrap top!

Overlocking away ! https://stenmartin.com/2019/01/09/overlocking-away/ https://stenmartin.com/2019/01/09/overlocking-away/#respond Wed, 09 Jan 2019 09:46:29 +0000 http://stenmartin.com/?p=744 Remember to share your thoughts below.

When sewing in jersey, using an overlock machine is the most common method. It joins the pieces with an elastic seam, while overcasting and trimming the edges at the same time. It uses a whole lot of thread compared to hand-stitching, but, as often is the case, is much, much faster.

My overlock is a vintage industrial one, but still works like a charm! And have done so, for about 20 years or so.

Back to the Work Room.

Let’s put the machine to work!

So let’s have some fun! Thinking of creating a blocked version of the Basic Black 4-2019. A geometrical cut-up with a dash of electric blue added! Let’s try it!

Back to the Work Room.

Time to cut the No. 5-2019 design!

Good morning! The Basic Black Turtleneck No. 4-2019 is now ready. What to you think? At least it’s very practical, stylish and can be used over, and over again for years to come. A favorite, as they say. 😇

Back to the Work Room.

So… let’s do a variation now! Let’s add some color.

Almost finished with the Basic Black 4-2019 Turtleneck. Just need some hemming. Will do that on my flatlock machine. Tomorrow. Now, time for bed! It’s late, as always…

Back to the Work Room.

See you tomorrow!

Thinking about the three items I’ve made so far here in 2019… Wouldn’t a basic black jersey turtleneck be a nice addition to the lot? It could be worn under the dresses if it’s a bit chilly – or by itself maybe?

Let’s try to make one, and see.

Back to the Work Room.

First some pattern-making and then on with the rest of the making… Let’s get this done!
