There are often a lot of details to manage into a greater whole, while creating a garment. If something looks random, it usually should be planned.

It’s not just the fabric, shape, size and how to join the cut pieces to deal with. It’s also, contrasting fabrics, thread quality and color, wich kind of seams and where, cords, caps, eyelets, zips and so on…

Tailoring and designing can most certainly be fulfilling – to create and see things grow. But at the same time, it can be very, very confusing. You do need a good sense of managing and merging multiple things.

As always with patterns and stripes, they need to be matched to give you a pleasant and undisturbed look. Especially at center front.

It can be a bit tricky when the matching has a zipper involved and the stripes are diagonal – there are allowances to include in the equation, and the fact that you usually stitch one side from the lower part upwards, and the other side the opposite way. There can easily be a lot of unwanted shifting. But we do our best. Right?
