Starting off with showing the No. 3-2019 Caped Back Dress with the waistband wrapped over the back part, instead of underneath it. Looks great too, right?

Well, let’s get this week started! Let’s make a new design! Go, go, go!

Almost a bit Supergirl-ish… A caped back! Or, let’s say, a somewhat rococo-inspired drape maybe? Anyhow, with just adding another “cut-through” at the side, you’ll get some great new possibilities added to the look of the dress. I think it’s rather elegant! And a bit dramatic. And very, very three-dimentional. What do you think?

So the dress is now put together. With a bias cut puff sleeve, and an integrated wrap effect to be. But what embellishment to use? I thought I wanted to give this dress some extra… well, extra!

Found these ribbons in my archive – a brown narrow velvet band, and a wide green silk-like ribbon. Together with the silk blouse it’s really… festive! Yes! Let’s do this! Let’s have fun!

Let’s finish up this dress! Let’s go, go, go!

All projects has a start, right? After cutting a design, I always like to just pin a few major pieces together to check how it all looks. See if alternations are needed.

I check the drape, the size and the design’s overall “flow”. What’s that? Flow? you may ask. Well… it’s kind of how pleasant the lines are to look at. Are the cut pieces placed neatly onto each other? Do cut openings – armscye, neckline, hemline – align from one pice to another without any kinks and distorted pullings? Can the fabric be gathered, pleated or eased just the way it was supposed to be, without being forced? Do the printed or woven fabric pattern look “natural” and not misplaced out of order? There are many questions to be asked. And answered.

Always exciting to start out on a new project! This time I think I’ll make a wool version of the 2-2019 silk dress just made ready two days ago. Of course with some new feauters! Otherwise it wouldn’t be all that fun. I like to evolve my designs – almost always rooted in an earlier project. I like seeing the progress and the familiarity of it all!

Found this loosely woven gray wool fabric in my belongings…

Combined the No. 2-2019 Dress with a unfinished blouse I’m working on, just to see how it looks – and I like it! What do you think? It’s really a splash of color right there!

Since the No. 1-2019 slot became available here earlier on, I decided to use that name for this blouse now, including it as the yers first garment (allthogh it will become Finished the second). Sometimes things just end up where they want to be by themself’s right?

With the belt, all the fabric in the back seems more controlled. And the full lower part together with the more wasp-like waist really reminds me of a 1950’s look here.

It’s interesting how small adjustments can give a compleatly new look with just the same garment. Right?

Let’s try to put it together with another garment, and see how that looks!

A belt! Made it of the same fabric as the dress itself, cut on bias for elasticity. Gives a more hourglass-like figure. Adjustable of course – just tie it as you like it.

So here’s the back of the No. 2-2019 Summer Silk Dress! A lot of ease and movement and almost no restrictions.
